Alarm problem?

Featured Replies

I know mine's a Toledo but has any Rapid owners had a problem with their alarm triggering randomly? Should be almost the same setup, is it?

Mine has been sitting on the drive as it has done when not used, same position all locked/alarmed. Now in the last two days I've had the alarm trigger twice, never happened before in nearly two years of ownership.

Not looked yet, have these got what I would call a bonnet pin/trigger that could need adjusting? Any ideas what else to look at?

A few days ago, my Rapid got all alarmed over nothing. Only way I could shut it up was to disconnect the battery.
Hasn't done it again, yet. (Not even with the battery reconnected. ;) )

^^^^ Not that bad with mine, just unlock/disarm then relock/arm, all ok for 2 days then off it went again.

Lucky it was daytime too, neighbours wouldn't be best pleased if in the small hours. :peek:

They weren't when my Citroen alarm failed at 4 AM, I can tell you.

Luckily I knew where the under-bonnet in-line fuse was for the siren!

A depleted battery can cause the alarm to go off. We had it happen a couple of times recently with the Fabia Combi when the crappy Chinese radio we had in it switched itself on and flattened the battery.

I concur, check the battery,it can affect the alarm if it's getting old.

Creepy crawlies are a possibility.

I once had a moth fly in to the wife's Rapid.  It was night time and it was attracted by the interior light.  It was late and I couldn't get it out the car so just left it.  Later that night it set the alarm off twice by flapping around in the car!  Ended up just disabling the alarm using the switch on the B-pillar.

No bonnet switch thingy, so that can't be it, no moths creepy things, checked, the battery is fully charged and it's only two years old anyway so not old.

Anyways it's behaving itself thus far from Thurs alarm so we shall see if it randomly alarms again.

Been a week now, no more alarms.

Whatever it was has corrected itself, if there was ever a problem.???
