Adding DAB and Smartlink to newest model, post build?

Featured Replies

The head unit just mirrors the phone so whatever your phone will or won't do without data is what the head unit will or won't do.

Not with Android Auto it doesn't. The display is transferred to the car screen. My phone (Google's Nexus 6P) simply shows a black screen with Android Auto in white text and all interaction thereafter is via the car. And the car wants a connection.

The Mirrorlink option *should* simply mirror whatever the phone is doing, online or off.

Can't speak to Carplay/iOS, but Google don't support Mirrorlink on their phones. Bit of a chromecast/miracast thing. Presumably Google see it as a competing tech, so don't support it.

I believe Mirrorlink works with my wife's GS6. I'll have to try it.

With the trend to inclusive tariffs and end of extra roaming charges, I just don't think data use will be as much of an issue in future.
