intercooler pipes does the heatshrink trick work?

Featured Replies

got the same old problem everyones had intercooler pipes blowing off !

crappy lugs dont work

ive self tapped the intercooler end but ive read people fit heatshrink over the joints anyone got any experience of this and does it actually work ?

thanks

Depending on how worn your lugs are you can fit a mikalor clamp over the join like I've done in my project thread. Needs a section cut out of the clamp.

Been fine on mine and I'm running 1.9 bar give or take.

Try the hairspray trick as well.

I'd also check the pipes to ensure no small splits and that the edge on the metal part, can't remember what it's called right now, is still protruding and not smooth. A longer hose with a couple more clamps, mikalor are good, in order to really hold it on.

Self tappers are the best solution

Heatshrink wont do much against 2.0bar of boost

Not sure but the self-tappers, cable ties and gaffa tape seems to.

Self tappers here too. As Big Jase just said, I doubt heat shrink will do much to rival the pressure created.

Yep, self tappers, once done they can be forgotten about, they'll not blow off again.
