MIB1 Admunden broken again

Featured Replies

So on top of a rather long list of issues with my vRS which have been resolved by the dealer (and a couple of software issues they can't because SUK can't be f**ked bothering with as it's "normal behaviour" for software settings to be lost when you turn off the ignition) it appears my Admundsen screen is "broken" again.

Intermittently the screen will just go blank and not display anything, the only fix is to remove the key and restart - not brilliant on the motorway.

I got a video for the dealer (because SUK wont believe me would a video) which I've posted to youTube

Audio removed but sufficed to say it's mostly expletives...

The car is back in under warranty next week (soonest I could get a courtesy car) so we'll see what Skoda say is wrong with the car this time (already had control unit and screen replaced).

Frankly I'll be glad to get rid of this car, I really don't want it after the warranty expires.

Anyone else had this issue?

Yes, my dealer said it's known and suk are working on a fix for it.... Apparently.

Car was made for stevie wonder lol.

Hope you get it sorted dude.

Hope this isn't a widespread issue?

I take delivery on Friday and will be heavily reliant on the Sat-Nav as I am an ambulance responder.

Have you got the finger reconightion switched on or off ? And it's the turn display off after 10 seconds on or off ?

I think its just on the older generation MIB 1 units. Yours should be MIB 2 if its new.

Mine has only actually done it a few times. I found I didn't need to turn the car off, just hold down the power button until it does a reset and it does through the motions as if you have restarted the car.

Ah I didn't know that. That's helpful thanks.

Yes it's mib1.

Quick update.

Just been to the dealer who looked at it immediately. They have been told by Skoda it's a known issue and aren't allowed to do anything with it until Skoda tries to push a software update.

Fair enough.

However Skoda are unable to tell them when it's likely to be made available.

I've just phoned Skoda CS and asked them to look into what they can do with this as I'm getting seriously hacked off with the niggly little faults with this car.

Unfortunately with brexit it's looking like we'll be financially much worse off so may have to keep this car.

I suggested either a loan car or mib2 upgrade but I won't hold my breath (always worth asking though).

have you tried to do a firmware update yourself! to see if it might solve your problem, rather than waiting for SUK to get their arse into gear.

press menu button -> setup and scroll down to systeminformation & post back what hardware & software your on?

Apparently the issue is the firmware needed isn't released yet. I'll check on the version and post back but I'm not sure what would happen with Skoda as they presumably have the current version logged for the car now.

The thing is it's such a minor issue on such a good car but it's the other minor issues and the way Skoda uk has handled everything that's driving me up the wall. I was hoping to leave all the issues to some other poor sod by trading in but I may not be able to now.

Updated mine on weekend bolero to 0475 last week easy enough to do and noticed faster response times and better Dab. Thanks to aki.

Here's the unofficial firmware update... lots of people seem to be happy with it. I haven't tried it yet, but will do soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this link just goes to the firmware thread not to a firmware update link.

Correct, but you can ask one of the guys on there for the firmware instructions and link.

Just as an update:

I escalated to the "Executive Office" of Skoda UK who have bought me a TomTom by way of a replacement for the Admundsen whilst it's broken/apology and have promised that West End Skoda in Edinburgh will contact me immediately as soon as the fix is available.  They have also made comments regarding compensation once this issue is resolved.

Apparently the fix is known and is already "in the wild" with VW and just waiting on final testing with Skoda.  I don't doubt West End will contact me asap as although I didn't buy the car from them with all my warranty issues they are been top notch service wise.

It's actually a real shame that SUK have been such a disappointment with my various dealings with them (although they've been ok in this specific case) and that the car has been a bit of a pain as I would have dearly liked to have remained with West End and given them my business on my next car but we're planning on replacing the Skoda soon with a Volvo (SWMBOs choice - although we've both been put off Skoda).
