.....................and there's me thinking you were the plasti-dip expert

This is the perfect plastidip application!

i like that - how are the standard badges attached to the car? is it just glue?

It's basically a self adhesive backing with 2 little 'lugs' that line up with small holes in the bodywork. I think the lugs are just to make sure the badges are fitted straight more than anything else as they don't add any strength to the bonding of badge to car.

Yeah, mine are plasti dipped already but the front is picking up so stone chips. Yes I could re do it but I fancy the gloss/black magic finish to match the grille.

Might just bite the bullet and get the super skoda ones.

I've got the superskoda black magic skoda emblems on my octy vRS front and rear they are very good to start with they will fit were the old emblem were line up the two lugs and stick in place.they look good and are a very good match for the black grill I've not had a problem with stone chips on the emblems. They are not the cheapest I payed 80 Euro for two but they are very good emblems

Thanks Rob. How do the original emblems come off?

I've just done the wifes Fabia, replacing both green Skoda badges with new black & chrome ones. I thought I'd need a hairdryer to loosen the glue holding the original badges in place but didn't in the end. This is what I did:-

I squeezed the edge of an old credit card in behind the top of the badge.

I then doubled up some dental floss and in a sawing motion I sawed down from behind the credit card in a clockwise motion around the badge.

When I could get my fingers in behind the badge I simply pulled it off.

The badge on the front of the Fabia was a little bit more fiddly as it sits flush with the chrome grill but the badge on the back was a skoosh to remove.

I just cleaned any residual glue with white spirit before I polished the surface and wiped it clean with an IPA solution so the new badges had the best possible surface to bond to.

A very straighforward process.

I just purchased another black emblem (Monty Carlo) badge for the boot from superskoda  B) already had one on the bonnet to match the black grille & wing mirror covers, once I put this on the boot, the next thing on the list, is to take of the exhaust brackets/tips & get them powder coated black so the rear looks more stealth.

Have you got a link for these? I can't find any 'Black magic' ones...Ta

Not Black Magic but a cheaper alternative I guess:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261960137761

They come in 2 sizes - 80mm or 90mm and instructions on how to fit to curved surfaces.

These look pretty good to me. Does anyone have any idea, is it 80 or 90 mm version that fits in new VRS estate?

I don't yet have the car, but could order these in advance.

I did the black magic monte carlo kit on the 2 logos as well as the skoda and octavia lettering which was also avalable from superskoda, yes they arent cheap but look the part and im sure will be durable in the long run.

I've removed my plastidipping as it wasn't robust enough. front badge had suffered some stone chipping and the rear skoda/octavia badges had started to lift at the edges where the moisture had got under them. It did look great when it was first done but it just doesn't last.

I really don't like the chrome look against the meteor paint but i can't really justify the cost of these.

You'd need:

front and rear round badge in black (80 euro) http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-original-Skoda-MONTE-CARLO-black-emblem

Octavia script in black (20 euro) http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/Emblems/Genuine-Skoda-Autoas-rear-emblem-%C2%B4OCTAVIA%C2%B4-MONTE-CARLO-black-version

Skoda script in black (16 euro) http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/Emblems/Genuine-Skoda-Autoas-rear-emblem-%C2%B4SKODA%C2%B4-MONTE-CARLO-black-version

So total 116 euros plus postage and you'd still have the vRS logo on the rear in chrome so it'll look odd. They should do a discount if you buy the full set IMO.

Keep a look out on Superskoda for there 20% discount (One just passed) but with Xmas around the corner, they might have the 20% offer again soon? I have all those Monte Carlo badges "front & rear" I didn't bother with the wording "Skoda, Octavia" in black but do still have the vRS in chrome/silver, which I would like to see a Monte Carlo version of?

I also changed the alloy wheel centre caps to the black vRS Superskoda ones too, as said might be best to wait for the Superskoda discount deals but in terms of quality, they are spot on.

BATVANVRS, I am due to pick up my first VRS on Wednesday and am already looking to Plasti Dip the exhaust tips, front and rear badges. But then... I saw your photo above of the red and green stripes :-o

How did you do them? They look amazing!

Hi mate

If you plasti-dip the badges I don't think that they will last & especially the exhaust tips (due to heat) I can't remember exactly where I read about the plasti-dip badges (probably on here) but something is telling me that the plasti-dip didn't last. (I could be wrong thou)

You can do this to you badges if you have the time (but looks fab)

https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/423311-black-white-skoda-emblem/

or you can buy them from Superskoda (you will need 1 for the front & 1 for the rear)

http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-original-Skoda-MONTE-CARLO-black-emblem

With my exhaust tips I used this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTIP-BLACK-VHT-AEROSOL-PROFESSIONAL-SPRAY-PAINT-400ml-800-C-/111398319762?hash=item19efdb7692:g:-UoAAMXQlgtS1--P

Have a look at this thread as regards removing the exhaust tips & there is some tips that should help you out

As for the red & green stripes B) there is 2 ways you can do it, the cheaper option (1) is to buy some wrap from ebay & wrap the 2 lines on the grille but as I found out later, the sun started to fade the stripes so then I settled for option (2) which is to buy some spray paint & cover/mask up the whole grille (except the 2 lines) bumper, wing & half of the bonnet & basically sand/scotch pad down the 2 lines within the grille (taking your time) & then when ready apply a few light coats of paint every 20-25mins but also using a heat gun but not to close & not on for long (just enough for the coat to adhere) & repeat but be careful of paint runs & you can use a little paint brush if need be!

This is the primer & paint that I used for the grille & it's still looks good today.

Primer clear plastic:

Green:

Red: But I can't remember what shade of red I used

I think the last link but to be honest I can't be sure. Best to source your own colour paint that you can see in the flesh before making your decision

Edit: Don't forget to use a lacquer as well.
