Felicia interior switchgear removal

Featured Replies

The light behind my sidelight switch has broken, and i don't seem to be able to get the switch out.

I've got the cover off, but can't see how the actual switch is removed.

also is the led replaceable or is a whole new switch required?

cheers

Simple remove him out and replace with some other led...

but how does the actual switch unit come out?

or do you change the led in situ? can't imagine that would be easy.

The little semicircular blanks at each end of the switch bank pull out and I think there's a screw in there. I've not taken the switches out before so hope I'm right. I found this out while sitting bored in a traffic jam and started fiddling:D The covers come out fairly easily - lift the lower edge slightly first then ease straight out.

great cheers.

i never noticed the screws, but i'll take another look.

:)

I have a similar problem with an LED/ bulb blown on the side light switch.

After removing the dash in order to remove the switch (neither of which was particularly easy), I found that the LED/ bulb is not replaceable without trying to dismantle the switch body which would mean forcing lots of flimsy plastic lugs and probably having tiny springs flying everywhere.

I would recommend replacing the complete switch - I think they are about £10 new.

Just thought that if it is a push-in type bulb it may be possible to remove carefully with a pair of long nose pliers - long shot but nothing to lose I suppose. I may try this before purchasing switch.

you had to take the whole dash out to remove the switches? :o

I'm afraid so, unless I've missed something obvious.

There's two retaining clips locking the switch in. These need to be squeezed together (hard) so that the switch can be pushed out from the rear.

The Haynes manual also confirms this.

I should have said 'Fascia' rather than 'Dash'.

It is the fascia panel within the dashboard that needs to be removed by removing the 5 screws and also disconnecting the speedo cable from the gearbox.

What do the screws behind the trim either side of the switches do then? Do they hold the panel to the fascia? Can't imagine why they're accessed from the front if the whole panel has to come out.

It's probably so you can undo them from the front then watch them fall into the dash, completely out of reach until the whole things dismantled.

My definition of the fascia is the complete black plastic panel housing the instruments (speedo, etc), switches and middle vents. (Instrument panel may be more correct).

The 2 screws either side of the switches are 2 of the 5 screws that secure what I have called the fascia into the surrounding grey dash. The location of the other 3 are;

- 1 behind the trim between the two middle vents

- 1 behind the blanking plate on the right-hand side above the fog light switches

- 1 behind the trim to the left of the fog light switches.

Removing these 5 screws will enable you to pull the fascia forward - providing that the speedo cable has been disconnected.

Only then can you get to the back of the switches to release them.

It may be worth investing in a Haynes Manual - I'm sure it's described better in there.

Hope this helps.

that's a great help, ta.

should the blanking plate that you described be a digital clock? i saw a picture to that effect in the handbook.

Yes, either that or an outside temperature display I think.
