Good price

Featured Replies

Does any one know of a reasonable price for 256mm brakes as the ones on ebay are going for around £150-£180 with discs and pads but would buy new anyway

I have also seen advertised

Brand new calipers carriers discs and pads all genuine for 220

Thanks sam

I picked up my set for £50 of a lad who was breaking an octavia vrs. That was carriers, calipers and dampers.

That's what I would consider a good price indeed

Which I why I asked as don't want to be paying way over the odds haha

I looked through your project the other day nice looking car and I like the mods you have done

I personally wouldn't bother with the rear brake upgrade. The rear doesn't do enough braking, just upgrade to a decent pad, unless your doing it for looks.

Well I'm doing the fronts so thought while I've got to bleed it I may as well do a full system flush and have bigger rears that fill the hole in the wheel

So pretty much for looks

And they are a matched pair on a few other cars so may work better together with bias valve and bore volume if that makes sense

I would say they make an improvement, car feels alot more planted under heavy breaking. Also they disapate heat much faster due to being vented. :)

Kellaway did you fit yours front then rear to notice the differance or did you do complete swap I can't remember from looking through your thread

Sam, have you got a link for the eBay ones for £220. Last time I was searching they were going for a fair bit more than that. Thanks.

Fitted the fronts first had brand new standard brakes on the back then upgraded. Certainly say it makes a difference and looks a hell of alot better!

I fitted the 256mm Rears first due to sticking calipers, thought i might as well upgrade them insted of replacing with standard, then replaced the fronts to 312mm so they matched.

Its mainly for looks as well tbh... i found the setup worked well on my Fabia and Ibiza.

I need new discs and pads so that's the reason I wanted them and my rear calipers are only a year old but have provisionally sold them already

I kinda regret upgrading the rears on mine.

They seem to Seize and moo and screech.

Already recently replaced caliper once after upgrading...will have to do again.

Have helper springs fitted.

Might have to look at the handbrake cable..it is the cheaper option at the momment.

Thanks for the heads up on that will get the helper springs to put on also how is your handbrake mine is poo

My 256mm setup been spot on, tiny bit of mooing if its sat in the rain for a few days. Ive got the anti moo dampers on mine and return springs. Another thing to note if your doing the upgrade is your going to want new carrier to hub bolts, as the old ones wont come out with out a fight!

What are the anti moo dampers?

And regarding the handbrake mine is crap as in the cables just keep stretching and won't lock the wheel up at all

And I think I'm gonna get brand new units as can't be bothered with stripping down rebuilding and cleaning and painting

Apparently the correct procedure to apply the handbrake with discs is to the press the brake pedal and hold, then apply the handbrake.

Yes that would be the normal procedure as I don't stop from 60 using my hand brake only use when parked up the cables don't seem stretched they are stretchy and it adjusts up properly
