1.4 TSI Twincharge?

Featured Replies

May soon be in market for newer Octavia 2 or possibly early Octavia 3.

Thinking about 1.4 TSI but want to avoid twincharge.

Which ones  have twincharge?

Can you tell from codes on sticker on boot floor?

Thanks

Octavia MK III - All the 1.2 & 1.4 tsi engines are the later EA211 engine (new totally different engine turbo only, belt cam)

Very good engines

Octavia MK II - The  1.2 & 1.4 tsi engines are the earlier EA111 engine (turbo only, chain cam) but none have the twin charger (turbo + supercharger)

Later versions are good but some earlier versions can have cam chain issues (regular servicing important)

Fabia MK II VRS - The more powerful 1.4tsi engine is the twin charger and is the engine that has had the most issues (oil consumption, pistons, cam chain) usually involving a replacement engine although recent versions sorted

That sounds encouraging then, especially for the Octavia 3. Unfortunately a 3 would be a bit of a stretch so a late model Octavia 2 is more likely. Any Idea of build dates or chassis numbers that would indicate the better later versions?

Thanks
