Has anyone tried to swap the mk3 climate controls into a mk2 yet? Is it a straight swap?

Mk2 facelift versions can be fitted to Mk2 pre-facelifts.

 

If I remember correctly, you'll need changes to the wiring and a new facia. The wiring changes are due to single vs dual flap HVAC systems and the facia as they are different shapes

 

It's claimed that the Mk3 version can be fitted to a Mk2 but I don't think I've seen it done and will need a custom facia creating as they are different physical sizes.

Ok cool, going to change my stream unit for an android one so thought I'd change the climate controls as well for a "fresher" look

I think Eddie-nl even made some looms to avoid any cutting/soldering which is a bonus

Mk3 Climate panels won't work

 

Mk3 is MQB platform and the CAN uses a high speed than on the mk2

 

Your only option if like the newer style panel is to fit a VW Climate panel from the facelift Scirocco, VW CC

The only problem is the backlighting is a warm red and not green
