HI.

 

How do I turn off the satnav whilst driving? 

 

I know I can press Radio to get the usual radio display, but the maxidot continues to display guidance instructions. 

 

I tried pressing the Nav button again, but just get a different display.

 

As usual the manual is utterly useless.

You can control the maxidot from the steering wheel. Press right end button on steering wheel then use the wheel to scroll up or down depends what do you want to display - driving data, audio, vehicle status etc - and press the wheel again

From my manual for an MIB1 system (on earlier cars):

 

In the Navigation main menu, press the button with the Flag icon, labelled "Route"

The following menu is displayed:

■ Stop route guidance - Stops route guidance

....

 

The Flag/Route button is the one in the bottom left corner of the Nav screen.

Why pay for bells & whistles and not use them? Hit the voice control button on the steering wheel, say "Stop Route Guidance" (it might be "Cancel Route Guidance"),  Mrs Amundsen confirms that route guidance has been cancelled and on goes the radio!
