width of mk3 v mk2 (with mirrors folded in)

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've been pondering over a new vRS for a while now but on paper they seem about 44mm wider than the old mk2 (that I own), I'm restricted on how wide a car I can have due to a narrow drive and the mk2 just goes down conformably but I have to pull both mirrors in and there's not a lot of wiggle room available! I measured my mk2 yesterday and with mirrors folded in it's 1840mm tip to tip!

does anyone know the width of a mk3 with mirrors folded in? all the info I have is with mirrors out or arch to arch..

thanks, Mark.

Don't know exact measurements here - but have gone from a MKII estate to a MKIII estate and can still get the MKIII in my single garage (new build property) with wing mirrors folded.  Note that new build are not renowned for having large garages.

The MKIII is marginally bigger so I think you will still be alright.

thanks for the reply, it's so tight when reversing down my drive that I get the drivers mirror about 1" off the wall of the house just to make sure the passenger side has more clearance as I can't see what's happening on that side due to mirror folded in!

what worries me is cars keep getting bigger every time a new model comes out so my choice of cars reduces or I go to the next model down.. the Octavia is the only Skoda I like as the others are just too small engine wise apart from Superb but that's obviously too big!
