Looking for Mk2 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy a Mk 2 Octavia VRS 2.0 TDi.

I have seen a couple and wondered if I could ask for people's opinions on here.

First one i've seen has DSG gearbox, 75K, full skoda service history, full leather interior but the outside is a bit rough in places - the odd scuff and dent here and there and all 4 wheels need refurbing.  Price reflects this and so would put the difference towards getting everything put right, Is there anything that I should be wary of when looking at this age/mileage of car?  What are the DPF issues? And what about the DSG at this age? When are DSG's prone to start failing?

The other one ive seen is same age, higher mileage, lower spec, but is in much better condition.  This one is manual.

Is it worth considering the DSG on a 5/6 year old Vrs? Or should I only really consider a manual?

Other thing I was thinking about is diesel v petrol?

I previously owned a 2010 leon cupra that had a stage 1 apr remap - point being, I know how lively the 2.o tfsi engine is, and how thirsty it can be.  My avg mileage is 10k a year - so on a car this age whoch do you guys think would work cheaper to live with

Any opinions welcome

P.S. - I was a previous member here in 2006 when I had a fabia vrs - infact, i arranged a group buy of AMD remap units, if anyone was here then.

hi mate .. id personally do what i just done .. go on approved skoda and have a look at cars with the skoda warranty .. i done this last month for my mk2 vrs cr 2.0 tdi ..

mileage is a consideration but i live in the scottish highlands so miles are part of the deal up here haha ..

tdi is the only way id go but thats just me .. im a manual also ..

i found my skoda 550 miles from me so was hesitant thats why i think approved used is best for at piece o mind
