Recently acquired 2002 Fabia Comfort with just 19k miles

 

The plastic type covers on the head light assembly are "foggy" and T-Cut  has made little difference

 

Any suggestions re creams or polishes that may make the headlights more clearer welcomed

 

Maybe however that it could be on the inside  ?

 

Re the echo effect, I have noticed this on other makes of older cars whereby the acrylic or plastic head lamp covers are in the same condition as mine - and some even worse

You can machine polish to get them back but tbh seeing as you can get Depo lamps on the bay for £40 each I just bought a new pair to freshen the car up.

I have used "wet and dry" fine sandpaper with great success on the fabia headlamps - buy a sheet on ebay for £1.

 

I use 2000 grit or you could use 1500 or perhaps 1000 followed by 2000. This will take off the yellow layer and improve light output probably ok for mot but still transparent rather than clear.

 

If you then use t-cut and a lot of elbow grease you can achieve a fully clear outcome just like new. At this point you can apply one of a number of coatings that claim to protect the plastic from uv in sunlight (to delay future fogging) but, on an old car, you might not bother.
