Hi, been a few years since I posted a question in here , does anyone else own a yeti 1.2 tsi that has the 1 second delay on the throttle response? Also an easy way to get rid of the delay?

Have you tried revving it in neautral, if it still happens there a problem with your car, if not are you in the right gear, its a tiny engine with a load to lug so if the turbo has not spooled up thats the delay

Hi, I have the diesel with dsg.

Have never found instant pickup/movement on mine.

I get about a second delay before movement from standstill.

Also at odd times, when accelerating to overtake, can be around a second before response.

I can understand a slight delay in pickup when moving from a standstill as the clutch in the DSG has to engage in the same way as a manual does, otherwise it would stall. It should be able to do it quicker than a manual driver though!

 

I have read on other forums where an unacceptable delay is due to faults. On the Audi TT for example a connection to the rear lights can be the culprit! Reason being that if the DSG thinks the brake is being applied then it delays accelerating. mention has also been made of resetting the DSG and software upgrades.

 

But there shouldn't be any delay when overtaking. Unless as blueR36 says the turbo hasn't spooled up enough which could be the case if the DSG is in too low a gear. In Drive that can often be the case.

Unless it's doing a down shift as you put your foot down.

 

I've had two 6 speed wet clutch DSG's and two 7 speed dry clutch DSG's and pick up our third 7 speed wet clutch DSG tomorrow.

 

Can't say have noticed any significant delay off the line but you can get a little hesitation when overtaking or when approaching a junction or roundabout and the box decides you need a down shift just as you come on the power.

Whatever, I think that the delay that the OP is talking about is different to that being experienced from being in too high a gear i.e. unresponsiveness?

I read it as being a time delay before anything happened at all, though of course I could be wrong.

No downshift, upshifts are usually instant,

 

But if you are rolling up to a roundabout in say third at low rpm and jump on the gas the box could downshift to 2nd and gives the impression of a moments hesitation the sets of like a rocket.

 

Or waiting for the overtake in 5th and go for the overtake but the increased throttle demand drops the box down a gear.

Only thing that frustrated me a bit was it changing up a gear when I didn't want it to e.g. on a light throttle, leaving a roundabout and going up hill when I was just about to accelerate to overtake.

But like with a manual you learn how to get the best out of it and get it to do what you want.

Used to love my DSG.

As you say it's a Eucharistic of the gearbox and after a while you adjust your driving style to suit. Becomes natural.

I have owned 2 octavia's 2.0 tdi pd with dsg an had no problems at all, an also a mk7 golf 1.4tsi also with dsg and again no problems. It's just the new 1.2tsi yeti with dsg seems to have a 1 second delay on the throttle response :-( , it's very disappointing

Is it a 105 or a 110 ?

Is this perhaps a difference between a 7 speed dry clutch and 6 speed wet clutch. My 140 TDi has a 6 speed wet clutch DSG and there is no appreciable delay in pulling away or throttle response.

His 1.4tsi Golf would have been 7 Speed dry clutch so he has previous.

We have a Fabia 105 and Yeti 110 Tsi DSG and don't have delayed starts.

You can get a bit of a delayed or jerky pull away on the Yeti but that's due to the stop/start if you have it turned on.
