Vibrating in driver footwell

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help please?? i have an annoying vibration on the driver footwell. On my 2004 octavia vrs estate. (142,000 on clock). It is noticable when stationary and also gets worse when going over bumps!!

I have replaced, front wishbones, shocks, top mounts, discs, pads, wheel bearings, rear springs, checked existing rear shocks and dog bone engine mount. All in the last six months. Most of these needed replacing anyway. But the vibration is still there.

My next port of call is to replace gearbox engine mount, as this could be problem.

Someone also said that it could be the my bridgestone tires, has anyone else had bad feedback from these tires?? They are old original 2004 spare tyres that were unused.

Thanks

Won't be tyres if it does it when stationary. What sort of vibration is it? Does it sound buzzy, or rattly? If you open bonnet with the engine running, can you hear it over the engine? It may be something simple like a detached piece of trim under the dash - or even something that has fallen down the back of the dash.

Its more substantial than that and can be felt slightly in passenger footwell and rear of car. No addtional noises. Thought it might be a combination of tires and engine mounts.

Check the subframe mountings for wear and tightness.

The front ones are knackered, but i am sure they have been like that for longer than the vibration has been there. Wouldn't it that come through the steering wheel as well?? I have new bushes but looks like a big job so i have put it off

Have you checked your exhaust mounts?
