Leaves etc on sunblind of panoramic roof

Featured Replies

SWMBO loves the panoramic sunroof, but I have found that a small amount of debris (leaf etc.) now sitting on the sunblind. I do not leave it open when stationary, but we do live in the New Forest so bits tend to be blown about. Asked dealer how to open the glazing but leave the sun blind in place so I can clean/vacuum the bits off the blind - back comes the bold reply 'can't be done - no way of opening roof and leaving blind closed for said cleaning'. Any Mk III owners got any ideas??

Hello @PrimativePete! I have the same problem and I see you managed to keep the shade closed while opening the sunroof. How did you do it?

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi,

Unfortunately, I think there's a safety function that prevent the sunblind being closed while sunroof is open. Ortherwise, aerodynamic turbulence may damage the sunblind.

The only option I'm thinking of, would be to use an air compressor (at low pressure) to blow the sunblind from the inside of the cabin from back to front and then vacuum the sunblind form the front edge

hello to all,

it is possible, I've just did it: 1. open completely the sunroof; 2. push and keep pushing the button to close the shade till it will move and close. 3. clean it from outside the car and when finished, just close the sunroof.

;)

Strange.

When my sunroof is fully open, if I only close the sunblind, the sunroof automatically closes only 4" behind. Thus I couldn't vacuum the sunblind alone...
