Anyone driven a Leon TDI FR?

Featured Replies

I had a flyer from Seat who are doing the previous shape Leon FR 150bhp diesel for

Saw that.Looked good but still think a previous shape petrol vRS at less than 12k new is even better value.

Nice cars the leon FR's

Alas , doing 30k miles a year the VRS isn't really an option.

I did briefly toy with the idea of buying one and getting it converted to LPG

I've driven a Leon Cupra TDi 150. That was a very nice car, nowhere near as big as an Octy though. I've never driven a vRS Octy (driven TDi ones) so I can't really compare the handling; the Cupra has superb handling, even compared to a Clio 182. I found it more confidence inspiring than the Clio, but that's me.

The Leon's aren't THAT quick, though. Despite it's 150bhp signature, it's not much quicker (if at all) than a Fabia vRS - the Leon is quite heavy. If it's remapped though . . . :)

I'll happily take on a Leon Cupra TDI on a twisty road ;)

To be fair, Paul, the Clio has the power and weight advantage, and probably the handling too, it's just that the Leon felt more confidence inspiring! Am I making sense?

Chances are (if not fact), same driver and same track, the 182 would run rings around the Leon - but as has been mentioned before regarding TDi's, the Leon feels fast and the handling feels good, so as long as you're not chasing Scoobies around a racetrack and worrying about times, the Cupra or FR is great fun. :)

I think I know what you mean to be fair, the Leon probably (somewhat like the Fabia) is a touch more forgiving. Clio can bite if pushed too hard.

I owned a Seat Leon and the reason I sold it was Seat's customer service. The dealers I visited were awful. They did not care about their customers and the work done on the car was often not completed to full spec. However I did like the car (apart from water insertion, door seals falling off when the passenger door was opened, many serious rattles that they could not trace...)

sadly reminds me of our fabia experience:(

The nearest dealer is a Seat & Skoda one combined which may or may not be a good thing.

The relatively tiny boot is putting me off a bit , as are quite a few tales of suspect build quality. Ah well ,will have to go for a nose and make my mind up

I saw that flyer... seems like a pretty good price. If it had been that price two years ago when I got the Fabia VRS I expect I would have gone for it. Just now though it's looking a little long in the tooth.
