Yeti No1 is here.

That looks nice.
I suppose you've tried adjusting the volume while directions are being given or could the Google Maps volume be set on the phone?

Yes, but the volume on the car always changes the music volume and the volume on the phone does nothing, the phones display just says Android Auto.

Have you tried altering it while spoken directions are being given?

I can't work out how to adjust Google Maps volume in Android Auto.

I can't see the music on my phone in Android Auto.

Need to have more of a play.

The loudness of the Android Auto announcements have bugged me also for the last few months, adjusting the radio volume settings made no difference and there are no volume options in Android Auto.  Finally tracked down a limited option in the google maps app in the phone. You need to go to settings / Navigation settings / voice level, where you have three options softer, Normal and Louder. Was set on normal which is a little on the loud side, softer is far better and about the correct sound level, would have like more volume settings than this but thats google for you!

Thanks, I will try that.

Really should be a slider control.

Looks very nice and glad it's finally arrived. The tyre pressure issue would have been real worry though if you'd had to do an energy brake on the way home. Very poor PDI.

Enjoy, when is the other one arriving?

The other one is already at the dealer.

It was ordered a week later and as I was on holiday the paperwork was delayed week. So I'll know by Tuesday whether we can collect Thu/Fri or early the following week.

No. 1 looks good, as no doubt will No. 2!

Out of interest why have two Yetis? One's nice but it's good to have something different as well.

I've had confirmation today.

Yeti No2 being picked up on Wednesday. :)

My Dad has wanted a Yeti since 2009 when they launched but he bought a Fabia instead. But he's always said he should have bought the Yeti.

He's now 75 and pretty much gave up on owning one.

When I told him I was ordering one he put on a brave face but I could tell he was gutted. So the next day I ordered another one. :)

Yeti 1 will mostly be my wifes, I have an Ocatvia currently.

I've recently renovated a bungalow and my Parents have just moved into that property (Rent Free of course). Hope the new home and car will help them enjoy the rest of their retirement.

Lee

What a nice thing to do :)

....Yeti 1 will mostly be my wifes ...

Logical, really - it's labelled 'ERZ', isn't it?

Anyone in Bob's Corner?

Hadn't thought of that. :D

The Bungalow is a long term investment and we'll probably retire there one day and our house will go towards my pension pot.

I could have put paying tenants in there but it has a large garden and is completely new inside so you run the risk of it being trashed and the garden being a mess.

As well as helping my parents I know they will keep it right and my Dad loves gardening and has already landscaped the back. They also project managed and assisted with the renovation so helped me keep down the renovation costs.

The Yeti is £25 a week so peanuts really.

Both Yeti's work out at £4k deposit and £198 a month, our previous 1 Series BMW was £3500 deposit and £299 a month. :)

Your parents obviously did a fine job while you were growing up.

'Well done' to them and 'Well done' to you for giving back as they (like all of us, inevitably) are growing old.

I'm in the fortunate position to still have my parents, many of my friends of similar age don't. I hear some people comment about what they will get when their parents pass away. My Parents have helped me out financially when I was younger, I will be happy if when they pass away they have spent every penny they have, having done everything they wanted to do, and having as many experiences and holidays their health will allow.

That will give me a lot more comfort than some inheritance money.

Does your dad know you're getting him the Yeti?

Yes,

He's taken his Fabia in this morning, a local car dealership has bought it and he's coming with us to pick up the new car tomorrow.

I've also had to sort his insurance out, same car, mileage and post code as me but his is £125 a year more. Can only put that down to an age thing, is 75 a bigger risk than 48?

Lee

I would have thought 75 is getting into the statistically bigger risk stage, yes. With an aging population, I guess it will become more widespread.

No1 looks great Lee

Sounds like all the plans have fitted nicely into place then!

On the insurance, might it be because you're altering an existing policy during its term? Hopefully a fresh policy when renewal comes up, will be a bit more competitive.

Not really.

I was with the Co-Op. They wouldn't insure the Yeti so I had to cancel the policy and start from scratch.

My Dad's policy for his Fabia runs out today (Worked out well), so his new policy starts tomorrow so both cars are on new policies.

For myself and Wife Privilege was £260, (Privilege was over £400 for my Dad and Mum). Eventually got Dad's for £385 from LVE. Everything the same apart from Age and working/retired.

Lee

OK, I see. That's a shame.

Must just be 'risk related' then....

I've just insured mine via Briskoda Insurance link, Chis Knott. Very good deal, saved a shed load of money and easy to talk to someone whose on the south coast.
