Engine mount/Support snapped!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Driving my car normaly on Sunday and heard a knock going up a gear round a corner, then a scraping noise, pulled over and opened the bonnet, the engine has dropped on the drivers side. And the AC pulley was grinding the undertray causing the noise.

Found the upper drivers side support/mount has somehow disconnected from the block!

Removed the cambelt cover and got this video (Jack under the sump)

Sooooo, the bolt that goes through the mount has snapped? How common is this? Havnt had time to see if its sheared or torn the thread out,

What should I do? Reckon itd be an easy fix? :(

Your very lucky that it didn't snap your timing belt. I would have thought that there would be more than just one bolt going into the block though.

Circled parts are the RH mounts, so more than 1 bolt. When was the timing belt last changed? possible that whoever did it didn't torque the bolts correctly

Or didn't change the bolts at all - they are stretch bolts and in theory only be used once
