No light warning buzzer

Featured Replies

Ok got a strange one. If I leave my lights on turn off the ignition and open the door I no longer get the warning buzzer. Paid as I'm leaving my lights on.

Interior light comes on when I open the drivers door.

Cluster light comes on when I open the drivers door.

Door light comes on when I open the drivers door.

No warning buzzer if lights are left on.

No Warner buzzer if indicator is left on.

Any ideas?

Do you hear the indicators 'tock' when they're working?

I had the same problem before. The speaker in the instrument cluster was dead.

As said, if you have no indicator tick you know it's that.

There is only one speaker in the cluster and it does all the bongs and sounds.

You should be able to get a second hand cluster off any mk1 fabia and "borrow" the speaker from that to solder onto yours.

It bongs when the washer bottle is low. Will check the indicator one at dinner.

EDIT: NVM, helps if I read the OP.

Might be a daft question on my part but are you taking the key out of the ignition barrel?

You mention turning the ignition off but not pulling the key out - the lights on buzzer won't activate until the key is out and the final stage of ignition powered down.

I'm only mentioning this as I'm speaking from bitter experience of replacing the door microswitches on a mk4 Golf and being most annoyed when the buzzer still didn't work only to realise after some time that I was having a mare and forgetting to take the key out to test it!

Thanks

I had this problem not long after owing my new-then 2006 Fabia.

Skoda replaced the head cluster (behind speedometer) and reset the mileage for the new speedometer.

Just got this problem. Interior lights come on when door opens and indicators tick sound works. But no warning sound for handbrake on or lights on. Thinking instrument cluster pub. 06 fabia ambiente.

Hi

I also have this problem, what did you do to fix yours please?

Dave

Didn't fix it as cluster replacement not worth it. But it's got worse as the boot won't open ! Seems to be the door switch as you can open the boot if you open a different door and interior lights don't come on now when you open the door. Should change the switch but can't face drilling out the rivets on the plate under the door card. Done all that when the window cables snapped on the passenger door.

Does the car lock itself after being opened even with the driver's door open after about 20 seconds?

OK, I have tried the following:

1) With all the doors locked, press unlock and the drivers door unlocks. Don't open door and the car locks again after 20 secs

2) With all the doors locked, press unlock and the drivers door unlocks. Open drivers door and the car locks again sfter 20 secs but the drivers door lock button stays up. Shut the drivers door and the door stays unlocked with the red led flashing on the lock button.

3) With all the doors locked, press unlock and the drivers door unlocks, open the door and get in and start the engine with door shut and car stays unlocked.

Does that help with diagnosing the problem?

Thanks for your help

Dave

Yeah, that is a faulty microswitch on the driver's door lock unit.

You can get the microswitches on ebay but you need some skill to fit them. Otherwise it's a new lock unit. Some people have had success with cheap units from ebay. A genuine Skoda one would be approaching £200.
