Making a french LHD Fabia complaint for UK roads

Featured Replies

My daughter is in the process of trying to register her French Fabia in the UK. She took it to see what would need doing in order to pass an MOT and is shocked at the quoted price. Does anyone have any tips on the best way of going about this - or is it just a question of taking the hit now ?

All advice / guidance appreciated.

Irene

Is it coming to the UK to stay in the UK for good now?

What was the price,

from who and what were they doing for you to have it on UK Plates?

Were they doing the changes required to the lights, doing the MOT, then dealing with the DVLA & buying the VED?

If it is staying here, then it would need to come in as a personal import, so may be subject to import duty etc. As for converting it, a good set of second hand headlights and rear lights (for the fog lamp) would probably suffice. After that MOT and registration at the DVLA local office would be required.

So without labour charges or any Import Taxes / fees.

£100 or so 2nd Hand Lights. (Ebay, Salvage Yard.

£20 UK Number Plates

£57 MOT test (or less)

VED to DVLA

If its to stay and its a Fabia.. Why would you want a LHD one over here? Just making life awkward on a daily basis imo.

Perhaps easier to sell it and buy one over here?

Buy a UK  Fabia & save yourself a whole load of greif &  expense !!!
