Standard airfilter

Featured Replies

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to find a definitive answer.

Should the airfilter be seen (when the box is sealed as in on the side next to the engine orange can be seen)?

Just every picture I have seen, its different some can be seen some can't.

Please help

I think the orange part is meant to be squashed to create a seal and the design of the box it kinda slides on one side which is why you can see some of it

I'm no expert but that's my take on it

The orange part is the seal between the two parts of the air box. It should not be seen when properly installed. That is unless your air box is broken in some way.

I can see the orange part on mine

Orange edge of air filter (which is the sealing foam rubber), can be easily seen peeping-out of the sides of the air filter casing, on my old 2005 Fabia VRS, when fitted correctly..

Same here.

DB.

This had me wondering first time I did my air filter and yes indeed, the maf side edge of my filter can be seen but is squashed air tight. Had to watch out for that plastic tab on the bulkhead side though as this tucked in the box and made life a bit tricky.

Still not as much of a pain as SWMBO'S megane though!!

Same here on my ibiza and dad's fabia (same filter and airbox design). I'm using MANN filters, and I know they did make VAG OEM filters for a lot of years.

Orange foam can be seen on both my fabias. How it should be.
