dashboard symbols

Featured Replies

can someone tell me the meaning of the car with a key inside symbol in the skoda fabia 1.4MPI dashboard please?

Immobiliser??

Howard's right. It's the immobiliser.

I was reading through my manual last night learning about the wonderful little features you don't normally think of.

Your remote control blipper / key also has a chip in it which over radio (??) "talks" to the car, authorising itself as a genuine skoda key and disables the immobiliser so you can start the car.

If you have your key copied, and you try and start your car, it won't work, even though it will turn on the ignition because it hasn't disabled the immobiliser due to the missing chip.

i never knew that my car had an immobiliser, because my genuine key has a battery inside and it works like a lamp when u want to insert the key to the door lock at night.so how can i take off the immobiliser on my fabia.eventaught it has an alarm system that only works when you insert the key in the ignition. can i have some help on this

Has anyone the faintest idea what EPC stands for when you turn the ignition key ('Tavia)

Engine Politically Correct?

Vegetu, I don't think you can disable the immobiliser permanently. Do you have a handbook? If so, it will tell you how you can disable the immobiliser each time you want to drive the car by using a 4 digit code. That code should have been given to you by the dealer if you bought the car new. If not, you will need to talk to a Skoda dealer about it.
