Headlight bulb that does nothing?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've searched but nothing seems to mention the extra light bulb and what it does.

I've recently fitted new H7 bulbs for headlights on my 2013 Fabia vRS. I believe it has the darkened headlight units as the dipped beam and main beam come from the same section. I noticed that there is a bulb in the cluster, towards the centre of the car that seemly does nothing. I've cycled through all the light switches and nothing turns it on. Is it just there for aesthetics?

Maybe look in the pinned DRL thread.

But if you mean the Blue Bulb then it is a dummy as your sidelights are not in the Headlight Unit.

The DRL Unit is the Sidelights when you switch on your Headlights/

Dimmer than when on as DRL's.

(if you have the DRL's activated.)

That bulb is a dummy bulb mate. Just in there literally for show.

That makes sense, from the other posts I've read about my lights being just one bulb for dipped and main. Makes me wonder if they can be wired up to work probably too much work involved though.

Yes it can be wired and other wiring and you could have a sidelight there.

Others have, but why do you want to.

I did it to have Fog Lights where the DRL's are, and then had it changed back.

(well the Sparks did it for me.)

Your DRLs do the job of your redundant side. Your main beam is your full beam controlled by a flap infront of the bulb. This helps your upgrade to HID as HID doesnt like to be flashed on and off. Thats if you want to upgrade.

I'd leave the side light.
