Air Con Issue

Featured Replies

I have a bit of an issue with my air conditioning on my 2012 Fabia Monte Carlo, basically when I'm driving along my air con is ice cold but if I'm sat idling it just goes back to being warm, I've not had this issue before on my previous cars so I've no idea what causes that or if that's normal.

First thing to check might be the operation of the cooling fan(s) because if they are not working the chiller will not be able to dump its heat out., though might work okay at normal road speeds with the air getting forced through its condenser.

I'll get those checked out and go from there then.

And thanks for the useful info rum4mo ;):D. :D

My cooling fan isn't moving at all so I'll have get someone to find out why then hopefully that'll sort the air con issue.

I have an issue where below about 25 degrees the air seems to be cool, but anything above that and it can't cope and the air comes out warm!

I've got the car being checked out next week so hopefully we can find out why the fan hasn't been working and then get it sorted, but I'll update this once its sorted as its always good to know what resolved it.

could be low on gas

I also notice most cars I have had with aircon they only seem to cool efficiently when the engine is running more than 1800-2000 rpm

some cars now also seem to turn off the aircon temporary if you floor the accelerator so as to give you maximum engine power, as you rarely run foot to the floor for more than a few seconds (overtaking, joining a dual carriageway/motorway, drag race a boy racer away from lights etc)

I know it's not the gas as I had the gas sorted a few weeks ago and it is properly cold when driving along in the current 30 degree temperatures. I'll just be glad when its sorted as I don't like having things that don't work as they should on my cars.

mine works just when it wants . first it doesnt work . ignition off > on and then there is a chance that it works .

sometimes it just works from the first start and sometimes it doesnt ...   strange .

no leaks , fresh refilled system ,

That one sounds like it could be short of gas, maybe worth a visit to one of these "no improvement - no cost" - on  a hot day!
