Pre-fl MFSW button not working anymore... swap alternatives?

Featured Replies

Changed my h/u from an Audience to a Bolero and the steering wheel reverse/forward buttons don't work with it. The skip track buttons do the same if you hold them down, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas how to get the two non-functioning buttons to work as the other way is a bit of a pain if you don't hold it down long enough or your finger slips halfway through an hour long podcast?!!

You need to code the head unit to the car, essentially telling the two how to communicate and what to do. VCDS job.

Is it that simple? I mean, no need for new boxes and all the usual fun stuff that comes with fitting newer equipment to older cars?

There's usually a level of coding needed to make things work, but I'm unsure if you're going to come unstuck with it. Either way, checking the coding and clearing the fault codes you might have generated is always worth doing.

I replaced a stream for a Columbus and experienced a problem with some of the buttons not working. IIRC the issue was to do with coding in the Columbus rather than the car. There is a fix for it but it requires some software which needs putting into the Columbus. I never did it in the end but there was a bit of info on here about it.

Depending on the age of the car, the Bolero needs to be coded. You need to turn the BAP protocol on or off, just switch it to the opposite of the current setting.

Mine is one of the last pre-fl models, a 58 plate, so it's likely to have the last versions of can before the change. The h/u is a 2012 model, I think it's a blaupunkt without the dimming light issue.
