OK, so we've downsized from an 07 Octavia Vrs to a lovely little fabia. Lots of pluses, one huge minus. Boot space. So we've decided to get a roof rack and box for the big trips. I just don't know which to get. Roofbox.co.uk have some pretty good deals on packages at the moment but no site really tells you what suits what vehicle. Does anyone have a roof box? If so, what type/size?

I'm thinking short/wide is best with about 400l capacity?

IMHO find a good second hand one local to you.

I was quite surprised the number of them available 'used once or twice', much the same as tents really.

Mine is a Karrite I think and c.400 litres albeit with a somewhat 'custom' paint job

I don't have one..... yet but when I initially glanced into it I thought somewhere around the 400 litre will be about right.

 

As for which one the world is your oyster, Thule make very good boxes but as said above depending on how much you are likely to use it second hand is a very cost effective way to do it.

 

Do like the custom paint job though!
