Looking at a Brand New - 2.0TSI SE-L EXECUTIVE ESTATE. Advice ?

Featured Replies

Thank you so much for all the replies  -I really appreciate them.............

With lack of response from Skoda Manchester and the awful experience in Rochdale I am going to back away from Skoda as an option.

I completely understand why people are travelling to Preston/Chester etc but its not an option for me as I work so my time is precious.

I need a local dealer I can work with - Hatfields in Bury with my Volvo have been awesome !!

I am going back to Mercedes tomorrow to see exactly what I can get in the back of the C Class Estate.

Once again thank you all for the time taken - I really appreciate it.

You can have a Mondeo Estate, 2.0 petrol auto, Titanium trim level for less money that the Superb.

Maybe worth a chat with some of your local Ford dealers?

Ford do take Motability sales very seriously, (in our experience) & the Mondeo is a seriously large estate car!

We had to spend a lot more money to get a similar car, we budgeted for £6K contribution every three years, & our last car (V70) cost us

£7.6K.

You can get a very decent car now for £2K or less, what happened?

Serious question, slightly OT, but can you have a motability car these days and business use insurance? Last time I asked which was a while ago I'll admit, it wasn't an option. Sort of bolstered the argument that disabled people didn't work and are lazy, useless feckers...so the policy may have changed?

My late wife &  I both worked, we used her Motability car to reach our jobs without ny insurance issues.

(Her M.S. stopped her driving long before she had to give up working, so I + one of the neighbours were the insured drivers.)

You are only allowed to use a Motability car to travel to/from your place of work, but you can't use the car as a work vehicle (ie taxi driver, sales rep etc), as you only get social, domestic and pleasure cover.

Hi

You don't need business insurance to travel to and from work.

I checked with RSA who insure Motability vehicles when I first qualified for the scheme.

I know a lot of disabled people who work both full and part time.

PIP is not a means tested benefit so your income actually makes no difference to the amount they pay you.

That was my issue. I used it for work during the day going to visit development sites and they said I couldn't be covered for that. Stupid really.  Puts people off using it and then Motability bleat about the lack of take up of the scheme.

I think that they can make exceptions to that rule, but I not 100% (I recall reading something along those lines whilst checking through the T&Cs), but as I only use mine to travel to and from work I have not needed to check.

I don't know anything about the Mobility side, but I do know their are usually two classes of Business cover on motor insurance.

I'm covered to use mine on company business, travelling to other sites etc. But the next class includes cover for what tends to be described as 'for reward' which is obviously your taxi drivers, delivery drivers etc.

I think the main insurance that R&SA do is only for s,d&p.

I see. Seems a bit daft/short sighted that, but there we go....
