Replacing Intake Manifold flap

Featured Replies

I've recently identified that the Intake Manifold flap motor (045 128 063G) on my 1.4 TDi Fabia has failed due to the car running on after shut down, and a scan by the garage confirmed that there was an error code P3103. I've taken delivery of a replacement (VDO - A2C59511707) today, however there is a sticker on it saying that it may need programming - observe the guidelines of the vehicle manufacturer?

I thought it would just be a simple switch old for new? Can anyone confirm one way or the other please?

On a diesel no, plug and play.

So.... just replaced the part (car shuts down cleanly now  ) and noted oil on the old one which I'd cleaned out over the weekend to see if it made any difference. Serviced the car today, so would that be a reason for oil in the intake manifold, or is there a leak in the intercooler somewhere? Any usual suspects I could look at?

Oil in the intake is normal. The crankcase breather vents into the intake pipe.

Hence the elephant mod I've read about? The previous flap had a thick tarry layer choosing everything which possibly contributed to its decline? Having said that, the part was 10.5 years old before failing!

Yes and yes.
