Engine bay detailing.

Featured Replies

Probably one for the detailing section but as only a certain amount of people use it, thought I'd post here.

Any one pressure washed an engine bay at all with any problems. I have a Fabia vRS.

I can reach so far with a detailing brush but still not upto the standard I want.. the only way to get it looking brand spanking new is going to be a pressure wash but **** scared of something going wrong.

Any advice would be helpful. Something I've not done before in a detailing routine so..

Fire away!

Not sure what the coilpack setup is like on the vrs but I'd be worried about that.

Rest is just usual, cover the Ecu and avoid long contact on any electrical connectors

When looking it seems full of electrical connections.. That's what worries me lol!

Can't you use a hand held pressure sprayer for more accuracy or did you already try that with the aid of detailing brushes?

I don't own a vrs so can't offer any great advice, sorry! :D

I've used our diesel steam/jet wash (90°) at work loads of time on both fabia vrs mk1 and mk2 vrs.

I've also make sure the engine is hot and running and don't go to close. I usually use apc with a detailing brush then use the jet wash. I leave the engine running for about 5-10 minutes afterwards to dry.

You have the engine running while spraying?

You have the engine running while spraying?

yes everytime

Just don't spray up the intake and it will be fine.

yes everytime

Interesting technique!

I've always just used hand sprayers and detailing brushes myself.

I suppose with the engine running it will dry a lot quicker
