Laser 1314 rewind tool

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I need to replace front & rear brake pads on my mk1 Octavia ( 1st registered 2006 but definitely mk1 (facelift?) model.

I've watched a few videos showing the use of a Laser 1314 rewind tool but they all refer to the rear pads.

Will the same tool service the front pads?  Does lefthand or righthand thread have any relevance?

Thanks

Don't think the fronts have wind in pistons - mine has normal pistons on the front but as it has drums on the back i don't have that problem

Front don't wind in, they just push back, so as long as you hold part of the tool so its applying pressure it'll force the piston straight back in. You can do them with a G-Clamp if you'd prefer.

Rear are wind back ones though, you need to use the tool for those. Both sides should be right hand thread.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you guys.

You can flip the adapter over on the laser ones to give a flat surface, which is better for pushing the fronts back. If it doesn't sit well against the pot, use one of the old pads to spread the load.

And don't forget to take the top off your brake fluid and maybe syringe some out to relieve pressure and make room, syringe back in to top up when finished.
