I'm picking up my new car from Simpsons Preston on Thursday. Any things i need to be aware of? Any problems people have seen with their new cars straight after pick up?

I'm collecting mine tomorrow from Simpsons!! Will gladly feedback to you after it's in my hands . If anyone else has any feedback ahead of my visit that would be awesome.

 

So far though:

 

• I've been told I've got to pay £40 on the day for fuel
• Ian is kindly picking me up from the train station as I'm travelling up from Maidstone
• I signed, scanned and posted my agreement ahead of the visit so hoping it's straight forward

vRS DSG TDI in quartz grey with the black pack plus. Ordered one that was already built and about to leave Germany, so it's been 3 weeks or so from start to finish.What about yourself?

My 1.4 SE wagon now has 2,800 miles on it.

 

I have absolutely nothing to report and haven't had any need to visit/contact the dealers since I picked it up (West End Skoda, Edinburgh). TBH I had anticipated the odd niggle or two as I'm quite anal about my cars, however it's been completely faultless.

 

The only thing that hasn't worked for me is my ability to assign photos to my phone contacts on the Bolero head unit.... extremely trivial but that's the only negative I can find!

 

Hopefully my experience so far will continue long into my ownership!

 vRS TDi in Quartz Grey. No black packs or anything. The only "treat" I've afforded myself is SmartLink. I ordered mine about 4 weeks ago.

Fgaffney - you've not noticed any of this low frequency booming that seems to be really common place? That's the only thing that I'm nervous of, as like you, I'm really anal about my cars.

I kinda had my hand forced on the grey but I'm pleased with it! There wasn't a lot left in the order by the time I came to choose mine! I wanted the Silver one, but it went too quickly!

 

Saw the grey at Mitchell's in Cheshire Oaks though and was well pleased

Just the usual checks:

 

1. Is it the exact spec you ordered?

2. Check for damage inside and out.

3. Handbooks, 2 keys, locking wheel nut etc.

No I haven't, however I've had the Skoda branded heavy duty rubber bootliner fitted to mine since day one and I read somewhere that this can solve such an issue? I hear a little bit of road noise but I'm guessing that's down to the 18" rims and the Dunlop tyres that were fitted as standard. Certainly nothing I would complain about and I don't consider the car to be noisy or un-refined.

Make sure your tyre pressures are correct - when they leave the factory they tend to over inflate them. Make sure your dealer has checked them and corrected if necessary.

 

Mine were 15 psi too high all round when I collected mine in March.

 

Also check that transport blocks have been removed from the suspension - covered elsewhere on the forum.

same as mine which is 3 weeks old today ......enjoy

As a side note mine had the incorrect pedals (not the vRS stainless type) but this is being sorted on Friday this week

All good yesterday! Was in and out in about 30 mins.

Dead happy with the car, it drives very well.

 

Looks great! You had a nice long drive home as well!

 

I'm leaving work at 12:30, then getting a train to Preston. Looking forward! My BMW has just been picked up, so I'm carless for about 4hrs!

That looks great. I've got a vRS in quartz grey on order as well! Looking like I won't get it until mid-late September, can't wait to get my hands on it.

Yeah and they questioned me when i said it was part of the deal. Had to find emails proving it. Didnt like that!

Hopeless. As if it should come as a surprise that you want the option to work, that you've paid for!

Very nice... the black pack compliments the grey really well.

 

I'm not a fan of the 19" Extremes but they look good on your car! Just a wee bit jealous!
