Tyres - 195/45/16/or 205/455/16 on VRS Alloys

Featured Replies

Just a quick one,

i am buying some tyres and have narrowed it down to 2 brands.

195/45/16 84W Yokohama S Drive AS01

or

195/45/16 R16 87W Toyo Proxes T1-R

Also i have Mk1 VRS 16in alloy wheels.

Should i go for the 195's or the 205's ?

I know that one is 10mm narrower.....

The other difference is the price between them approx £40 or £10 per tyre.

What is the difference?

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

thanks

Pedro

Apologies,

should have added that my Fabia is a 1.4 16V 2005 Estate

thanks in advance

Pedro

Use the narrower tyres, will make it a bit snappier and safer in the wet since the 1.4 is a lot lighter than the PD.

Use one of the free on line tyre calculaters, enter your original wheel/tyre size then you can work out which one will give you nearest to your original rolling radius to keep your speedo correct.

If your going to fit 195 tyres i think that they fit 195/50/16 not 195/45/16

Negative, 195/50/15 here on a 1.4 16v and a 2.0 MPI, 185/60/14 is standard on the 1.4 16v.

195/50/16 will be MUCH too big for the 1.4, be like driving in sixth gear all the time.
