Trigger Spray Glass Bottles

Featured Replies

I've been looking into the possibility of using glass bottles (200mL or 1L) for use with the chemical resistant trigger sprays.

I can see advantages being:-

Price - on a par with plastic

Size - varying size for different uses - easier to store, carry, several dilution bottles of each product

Material - no leaching of the product into glass thus re-use with other products

Recycling - easier to recycle at end of life, if ever!

Resistance - more likely to resist those stored products thus greater life

The only downside I can see is breakability but I think we're all careful enough with our stuff, although accidents do happen!

Thoughts?

Breakability would be, and has been, my main concern on this point Chubbs.

Glass would be risky. We are all careful - but i still knock the odd bottle over.

For the most part i stick with plastic and dont have a problem....

One other option is the Aluminium style bottles - which are robust and durable.

Only downside is difficulty in monitoring the amount of product/solution left in the bottle. :giggle:

Breakability would be my problem here. A glass jar is small and usually very thick with wax, but a 500ml bottle would be too easily broken.

Like Ste, I knock over more than the odd bottle. For a spray wax it could be a goer if you were careful though, maybe.

Yes, I thought of the aluminium type bottle at the same time - and the problem of knowing volume left - possibly a bottle with a clear view strip top to bottom, the one like you get with the engine oil bottles? Would imagine these would cost much more but given their likely longevity this may offset cost?

I've been using the Aluminim bottles for my Sonax BSD refills....

I always get 5L bulk buy on this product - so easy to refill when i run out;

plus i keep at least two bottles of this running - one in the car, one in the garage.

Excuse the old collage pic - but i dug this up from an old Photobucket folder.

This pic is also at my old house/garage.... so going on 2 years now and still using them! :thumbup:

I think these are much better than the plastic stuff. I don't think you need to know volume left, a quick shake would give a rough idea and, like you say, you'd make up more than one bit up at s time so a reserve would always be in place. Nice collection, may look into these some more!

Thanks mate - sold on a lot of this before i moved house actually - tried to make it easier on the move! :giggle:

What i would say - is try and get the "hair salon" Aluminium bottles; as i think the sprayers

on that particular type are designed for a better "mist" which does help for QD sprayers etc.

Sonax is a tricky one and its quite gloopy in consistency, so can clog up some sprayers as well;

although a rinse in warm water and they tend to come back to life no problem - i find.

I don't know why detail brands don't use the aluminium option, a la Bilt Hamber, more often. Presentation could be awesome and could sell well along with an easy to use, effective product with the right odour etc etc. I can feel a product design coming on with my own branded product!
