I have finally bought myself a 60 plate black VRS diesel Cr hatch and love it.

Having used a petrol Mk1 Vrs, mk2 vrs diesel and a facelift diesel vrs Between 2004 and 2014 I decided to buy one of my own as I knew how good they were.

Originally I was just looking for a cheap manual. However when I saw this one I had to have it.

It has DSG, full black heated leather, sunroof and Columbus. Since having it (2 days) I have discovered it has Bluetooth streaming as well.

Thanks to this forum I have already turned off the annoying 40mph beep to tell me I have exceeded it and turned back on the auto locking and unlocking.

One thing I would like to do is know how to change the digital speed display to mph if possible?

For the future I would like a remap and possibly drop it on the sports springs from Eibach if I can find some.

Tinted rear windows is a must.

A black grill surround would be better and I'm undecided about black wheels at the mo.

I have read up on updating the Columbus firmware and am not too keen on doing it myself so is there anyone Mansfield way that is a specialist that could upgrade the firmware and add the latest maps?

I may get a Towbar to carry my mountain bike at some point as well.

Thanks in advance for the tips I will be finding from the forum.

pictures?

If you're in Mansfield, give Shark a try. Welcome btw.

I will use shark for the remap but not sure if they will do the Columbus update.

I will add some pics once I take some decent ones.

I can update your Columbus, but I'm up in North Yorks.

There is a monthly meet near you, Sutton in Ashfield. It occurs each month, there might be, people are busy, it might be something one of the boffins who goes there can sort too, or guide you  :)

VCDS can be used to sort the maxidot to display mph. If you're going to Shark I'd think they could do that as well. Otherwise as Colin says the East Midlands meet is close to you and has a few people who could make the required changes. The next meet is in a fortnight (every third Wednesday of the month) - watch for the posting in the East Midlands forum - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/279-east-midlands/

Will keep an eye on it, thanks.

Very nice. Definitely needs the chrome grill surround colour coded.

Big thanks to rustynuts today for updating my satnav for me. Did a superb job and threw in tea, coffee and biscuits as well. Top bloke.

Very nice! Makes me wonder if I should trade mine in for a nicer, less stone chipped example, rather than throw money.  That looks pristine!

Alas, with the TSI chain issue, I'd much rather the devil I know!

have you already replaced your timing chain parts and just dont want the hassle of doing it again to another car ?

i would try and get money off the sale price to cover the cost of replacement timing chain parts ,

its a good job the op has just bought a diesel,

very nice, shark remap, eibach springs, tints and black grill =

Very nice car. Colour coded grille is a must have mod. The chrome is a total monstrosity.

Look forward to updates

Yeah there's not really anything wrong with mine. It had the tensioner issue about 30K miles ago before I owned it. Aside from creaky suspension and suspect split DV, mine's fine. I just want something with newer, prettier paint :D
