Cleaning Injectors Out of Car

Featured Replies

Seen some Youtube clips of folk cleaning injectors by squirting carb cleaner through them having 'opened' injector by applying voltage across terminals.

Is it safe to apply 12v directly to PD injector terminals? - by which I mean any risk of damage to injector

Does it matter which way round voltage is connected?

Any experience good or bad of this method?

Any dire warnings about this idea?

Thanks

Having tried this on (some spare) petrol injectors, all I'd say is that carb cleaner fumes aren't something you want to inhale much of, unless you enjoy that 'can only open one eye' level of hangover headache...

Never got round to installing the injectors to see how they compared with aged ones, changed cars instead.

OK - Outside, upwind and hold breath while I'm doing it then.

I don't think it's that expensive to get them cleaned professionally (ASNU)  I think  the big advantage is their capacity to check any variation in volume across a set

You can put some sort injector fluid (don't know which type of fluid etc) into the fuel tank.

Halfords charged £18 for this addition to be carried-out, during on/ my last service..

sorry thought we were on about petrol injectors
