Featured Replies

Got a new steering rack fitted to 53 plate vrs , now got occasionally heavy steering especially when parking . Vag com can't connect to the sub section for angle sensor which I think it the culprit , if steering angle sensor won't connect to vag com is it goosed ?also can someone point me in the direction of one that won't break the bank , thanks

Are you trying to connect to module 44, under the chassis tab? That's where you want to be.

Aye mate , connected to steering pump section (no fault codes) just won't connect when u click on angle sensor tab

I think your version of VCDS must be different to mine, I never see an 'angle sensor tab'. When I connect to module 44 Steering Assist, I see a screen a bit like this one. (With different numbers in the white boxes).

Then I use the buttons on the lower left for fault codes and measuring blocks. The measuring blocks one is what I'd hit to then find one for steering angle sensor output (column 1 of block 2). "Steering aid sensor angular velocity °/s"

Are you trying to do this with engine running or just ignition on? If the latter, try the former.

At the (physical) pump module there are three connectors, a big two-pin power connector, a three-pin one that goes to the angle sensor, and a four-pin that only has three wires used, two for CANbus, and one that is an ignition live 12V.

I'd be unplugging and inspecting that four-pin one I think, to check there is no corrosion on any contacts, and to check that that ignition 12V is actually there (when ignition is on). May as well check the other connectors while you're there.

underneath the battery , u can get to it behind wheel arch

Yeah, but unfortunately, the side you can get to from the wheel arch is the opposite side to this view.

Not sure whether you can get to the connectors from there, or from below, or if the bumper has to come off on a vRS. Others will know.

cheers mate , I'll have a good look at weeken , car bleeding me dry just now

On mine, I could remove a blanking panel in the front bumper where I suspect fog lights might go and could plug/unplug and generally fiddle about at ease.
