Amundsen retrofit not switching on/off with ignition

Featured Replies

I've just popped in my old RNS310 Amundsen into a 2007 Fabia 3 spec and expected it to work fine.

However, it doesn't switch on with the ignition and doesn't switch off when you take the key out, it will switch on with the power button regardless of the ignition position and work fine for 1 hour then automatically switches itself off when it times out.

Any idea?

2007 fabia could be the older CAN system 1.6. The CAN system required by the Amundsen is 2.0, like in your new car and anything Octavia based, etc.

its a 57 plate and was registerd a few weeks after my mk1 special edition so is one of the first MK2 Fabias, so definitley pre-facelift etc...

Any way around it, or how do i solve it?

the factory radio works fine and switches on and off with the igniton so i thought the switched live or whatever would work the same since the diagrames look very similar apart from one or two.

Thanks, I'll look into that then.

I tested my Columbus and it was exactly the same so I'd think it will work for both, they are similar systems I guess.

Don't forget the Columbus is better at working with earlier systems. It is switchable between BAP and DDP communication protocols, which is needed when used on the prefacelift Mk2 Octavia.

The Amunsden was never offered on the earlier cars, and so works only with the newer communication setup.

The columbus still didnt work as it should in the 2007 Fabia like it does in my 2012 Fabia, so must be the issue raised earlier.

I didnt think it would be a problem, i thought Amundsen was the factory satnav unit for all mk2 Fabias, i didnt know it wasnt offerd on the earlier models.
