Octavia estate gas strut ball pin

Featured Replies

Hi all, quick question re the ball pin which the boot gas struts attach to. Are they captive nuts on the bodywork side as my offside one has come loose and moves around?

Or is it a plastic trim off to get to the attachment point?

No3 in the attached image if my description was not clear

Thanks

They are a square captive nut welded to the body on a Fabia 2. I was looking at one today oddly enough that has done the same. The spot welds have broken off inside. Lord knows how I'm gonna sort it as its double skinned.

Ok, thanks

Fingers crossed its not the same scenario.

Mine come loose all the time (should probably get some loctite on 'em! :giggle:), just take the strut off and tighten with a spanner and you're back to normal.

That's what I did when I fitted new struts. Just noticed its loose again.

As suggested, will tighten again.

Looking online and as confirmed here, it's definately a captive nut, behind the pillar. Bit of a pain if it can't be got at.

Thanks all

Sorry, are we saying that it's a nut welded on the other side, or if you take it off are you then shanked as it's just a normal nut that'll fall behind the metalwork?!

It's a captive nut welded to the other side of the panel.
