Lots (and lots) of errors on dash

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

We got into the car yesterday as usual, after it laying unused all night. When I turned the ignition a yellow warning triangle light appeared on the dash cluster, and the maxidot showed errors for what seemed like almost every component in the system. ESC, auto hold, hill hold assist, front assist, electric parking brake, and more. I cycled the ignition a few times to the same effect, but after a few tries it all just went away. No more errors and the car has performed perfectly since. Weird.  :|  I will of course book it in for a check, but does anyone have any bright ideas?

Here's a YouTube video of the happenings. There were less errors this time, but I obviously didn't know to video it the first time around. Does anyone have any ideas what might be borked (except for 'Um, everything' :D)?

Thanks for replying. :) That wouldn't be too bad as I assume the fix is pretty simple (i.e. new battery or electrical system part). My dealership is very busy and is estimating appointments in the six week range atm! It might be worth booking it in somewhere else. I've done 50 miles today pottering about, mostly motorway and A roads. Still no issues, but I'm hoping it's not going to be a case of 'no codes stored, sir'. I haven't checked with my OBDII reader for fear of them resetting before I get it properly looked at.

I had a whole raft of warning lights after taking my battery off. A short run round the block, switch off and restart and they all cleared and have not (some months later) reappeared.

Might be worth just checking the connections are tight?

A good idea, which I'll see to tomorrow. Thanks!

I had a friend who had intermittent starting issues on a Saxo years ago. Had been to the garage and had new spark plugs, air filter etc but still happened.

Turned out that some genius had put the wrong size battery lug on during a repair at some point. Then used a metal sleeve to take up the slack. This then had slight play in it. Got the lug swapped for the proper size and bang was fine there after. Till she wrote it off.....

The battery died in my previous Superb this year and gave me a dash full of warnings. Checked with DVM and showing 12v but dropped to 3.4v when being cranked! No wonder it wouldn't start!
