TFI got ACC

Featured Replies

Spent nearly 3 hours in various nose to tail stop start traffic jams on M5/M6 today, just sat in the inside lane and set the distance I was comfortable with and let it do its business.

All I can say is ACC is awesome, I have always loved it from my old Golf but never encountered such bad traffic to fully appreciate it. It's in my SV and it totally rocks especially coupled to the DSG. What an amazing piece of kit...had my foot covering the brake just incase but it performed faultlessly.

A massive improvement over the original cruise control.

If you do lots of motorway, I would spec it every time :)

ACC is the best thing that has happened in the car industry since the wheel was invented.

I simply love it.

There are some snagging faults as per usual,

but VW will be on top of them, and dealership employees will say, **** happens & VW will dither for a year or 7..

Maybe the DVSA will pull them up on any issues before anyone gets killed, because of a safety system.

As with any system there is always a chance of a problem but having traveled in excess of 11,500 miles on two different cars I have never had the brakes applied. I have had about three instances of the first stage warning going off, always with cyclists or a police car and on each time that had reflective strips and were off to one side.

I was actually praising the ACC and not touching on the emergency brake assist or anti-collision system.

I know they share the same radar unit but as a cruise control system which allows the car to slow to a stop and then pulls away again it is IMO a fantastic invention, you only need be distracted for a second to rear end someone and this system helps avoid it in heavy congestion and as said my foot is always poised ready to intervene.

Yours were VW's where they not,

Skoda is the budget brand at the not so cheap prices with the penny pinching parts, but lots of plastic chrome and connectivity.

Not all up to much but then everything is 'Simply Clever'.
