bleeding brake bleeding!

Featured Replies

right so bled my bleeding brakes today (again) rears were fine passenger front fine, drivers front serious amount of bubbles, peddle feels ok but i was shocked i couldn't get the air all out ran out of fluid,   the level didnt go low so i never did mc this time.

anyone else had this issue?

If you can't get the air out of the front offside it could be because air is entering the system. Any signs of fluid around a connection etc?

Probably just being pulled in around the bleed nipple if the pedal is ok.

What method did you use to bleed the system?

I'm using a mityvac hand pressure pump thing. There is no signs of fluid in any of the nipples no leaks. I imagine the seal on the nipples from the pump isn't a perfect seal but I had no issues on the other calipers

I do find with my vac bleeder that it always looks like it's pulling a bit of air in. I've got a feeling it's because it doesn't make a perfect seal on the nipple.

I always do one last round bleeding the old fashioned way with a pipe and someone pressing the pedal. Have you tried this?

Try a new bleed nipple in case it's not sealing right in the thread.

If the pedal is ok though I wouldn't worry.

As above, your drawing air in past the bleed nipple, vacuum bleeders are no good if you are are counting on looking at the air in the fluid as a sign that bleeding is complete due to air ingress.

Take the bleed nipple out and wrap some PTFE round it, that may help

If you ran out of fluid you'll struggle to get a "perfect" pedal on one of those cars again. Air gets trapped in the ABS unit and you need a computer to pump the unit while you open the bleed nipples in sequence.

Its happened to me once or twice over the years.

VCDS has a function for bleeding the ABS valve block.
