Coolant Temperature/Fan cut in

Featured Replies

I have just started to have an issue with the coolant temperature/ fan cut in.  I have had my Fabia since new and the coolant temperature has never been any higher than 90°.  Just recently the car over heated going up a hill, and since then the fan only cuts in when the needle just gets to the 120° mark.

The main dealer has looked at the car and can find nothing wrong.  Any thoughts or comments.

Welcome to the forum.

Get them to get someone Competent to diagnose then fix the the Fault,

that is why you have a Manufacturers Warranty, if the DEalership has nobody competent then have Skoda UK the Warranty Provider to arrange the car being repaired.

When you say the main dealer has 'looked' at the car,do you mean a 5 minute, bonnet open, scratching head session or was it booked into the workshop for a proper examination?

Next 'they' will be saying they are contacting the Technical Department or the factory,

because either 'They have never seen that before',  or 'They all do that'!

Skoda Dealership FAQ's training,  'Simply Clever'.

Is it a 1.4 TDI? If yes, tell the dealer to change the water pump. :)

As has been said, if it's a 1.4TDi - get them to check the Water Pump, Thermostat and Bleed Reed... Mine failed back in April just after 12 months.. there's an issue with the water pump seals which expand and stop the impeller from turning.. if your coolant temp is getting too high and you get an Engine Overheat warning.. then it's the pump - I've been told it's a known issue from a Skoda Rochdale technician on here.. I got mine changed from the dealer in Warrington and didn't cost me of course, under warranty, but it's interesting to see the issue still carrying on, not sure how long it will be before Skoda get a proper fix for it.. the fan also kicks in when the DPF needs cleaning out.. so your performance will drop off.. but that is apparantly normal.. if the fan starts coming on more than normal - every trip, then worry.. keep to low revs and not high revs.. there's another post on this forum with all my issues detailed.. just have a search for it.
