Have a word with Shifty..................He's the man for cooking oil,Group Buy??

Shifty uses molden lard, not oil. Sorry chaps ;)

If he did use oil the Fabia would be running it.

Think if it ran hot enough, it would fry a large haddock too? :D

Personnaly I am more interested in its ability to fry a doughnut :D

does running folding on your pc affect performance? Can u still use your pc while its running?

Whats the spec of your machine, then i'd be happy to oblige where i can with info

I looked at that oil-cooled PC and they say in the notes for best result use motor oil.......i guess because VW 501.1 is fully synthetic.......lol.....

Now eyeing up a tired looking P3 here in the office and wondering what i'd need to seal it........

Set up as a service it affects sod all (in my experience) The graphical client is known to affect other graphics-intensive applications like games. Both versions though will reduce the amount of processor power they use, in response to any other demands.

No other applications have ever slowed down as a result - You wouldn't know its running. :D

well its an amd 64 3400+ laptop with 1.25GB of ram, I've also installed it on another pc at work. Both have graphical interface.

Was going to install it on another couple of machines, so is it better to use the service installer than the graphical?

how do you get the folding in your sig?

how do you get the folding in your sig?

You insert an image code on your signature like this :

sigimage.php?un=HotRod&t=11314

which uses a php script which can be found Here

all you need to do is copy the script -- insert an image using &

but dont forget to enter your username & our team number so it looks something like this(there should not be * between letters - this is just to show you

[i*M*G]http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/sigs/sigimage.php?un=boyced&t=42567[/i*M*G]

something like this?

well that aint working...

Have you actually scored any points yet? You don't appear on the overclocking list for Briskoda until you get your first points. However the image you've put is technically correct, so once you score your first points, it will (should :D) like mine and everyone elses.

Just wait for that first scoring WU though. ;)

My ears were burning. :D

As Phil said, my "chip fat" is solid at room temp.

I can't help thinking that liquid cooking oil would smell pretty vile after a while, when it had gone rancid.

nearly done my first WU seems to take a long time

well that aint working...

You noticed its working now! Well done on getting your first W.U

(and the big ones do take quite a long time - Faster machines do well with folding)

the PC is kinda cool, but imagine the mess if you knocked it over!!

If that were me, I'd have more than a few reservations about dropping a grand's worth of kit into some oil!!!

Has certainly got me thinking - might experiment with some old kit here or at the office :rubchin:

I always think with things like this though - who was the mad man that thought one day - "I know, I'll drop my computer system into OIL and see if it works without direct cooling". Crazy Germans :D

**Goes off to read the bit about case construction again. Is it just me, or is that not the vital part? Bit like water cooling - 'oh dear, is that a leak?!!' :P **

Steve

awsome! must mean that no one has knicked my laptop from work then, do you have to do anything special if you have it on more than one computer?
