Is no wiring to rear door speaker normal?

Featured Replies

As per other post, fixing rear door leak. I've taker the rear "speaker" out, and there is no wiring to it.

My Fabia is a low spec one. Is this normal not to have the speakers wired in, or has something dodgy gone off?

(I haven't checked the other door!)

Sometimes you can tell by the radio, on basic models there is no fade option from the front to the rear if no speakers were fitted/wired up from the factory.

I had to change my head unit when I fitted rear speakers to my Mk4 golf.

They don't have rear door speakers on a MK1 Fabia do they? The speakers are in the front doors and either side of the shelf.

However if your model was front speakers only then there will be no wiring to the rear.

Well tweeters in the rear? Whatever they are there isn't any wiring to them!

Have you taken the door trim off? Maybe someone had the trim off and dropped the wires down behind.

Mine is also a base model 1.4TDi Classic, and ( refer to another post ,where I thought fuel tank cut-outs were rear speakers) I can fade to rear "speakers" on the front panel( fades with no output). Tech1e has some good photos on there showing rear speaker locations.

Sounds like they just have 1 head unit that fits all, in previous years they have one model of headunit for just the front speakers which doesn't even have an output for rear ones if you want to fit them

The coding of the head unit determines how many speakers. If you have a fader but only front channels it's coded incorrectly.

From label , mine is a SKZAZ9D2214236. Any ideas ?

That's the serial number for the headunit.

For coding you need VCDS.
