Vcds headlight range

Featured Replies

Hi.

Recently changed xenon bulbs in my 05 vrs fabia and need to reset the levels. Friend from work has vcds and plugged it in, however can't connect to the controller 55. Any help appreciated. Was however able to connect to engine, abs, steering and a few others. I have also a bulb out indicator on my dash which has always been there since I got the car, but no bulbs are out. When you turn the xenons on this waning light goes out, not sure if this could be anything to do with it? Bad earth somewhere?

Thanks

Just to add again not sure If it makes any difference, after changing the bulbs the drivers side light is really low, hence why I wanted them adjusted. I did notice with the lights on and the bonnet up, I can hear the motor for this light moving every 20 seconds or so but the headlight itself doesn't. So again not sure if the motor is causing any problems regarding the connection with vcds.

Thanks

Are your lights factory xenons or retrofitted?

Factory.

Sounds like one of the adjustment motors has popped off it's it's pointing really low.

It's dead easy to clip it back in.

Would this cause vcds not to connect though? Yeah it's pointing really low

Doing loads of research regarding the issue, could it also be linked with the rear levelling sensor ?? Alsor my headlight washers haven't worked for sometime.

The sensor being at fault wouldn't prevent you from accessing the controller.

My guess is that there's a wiring fault or the xenon control module is faulty since you can't access it.

Unfortunately there's no real way of telling without checking the wiring and connectors or trying a new module.

Could you tell me where the module is please? Thanks for your help

Researching online, found that there is a k line cable running into the rear axle height adjust sensor, possibly could be causing me issues with connecting via vcds if it's faulty.

The rear sensor and wiring get a hard time under the car, the rubbish dirt and salt off the road combined with the heat off the exhaust means they don't last forever

Ideal, will have a look and try to connect once more with vcds. Any idea if replacement sensors are available?

They are available from TPS. Not cheap though

OK thanks. Will have a look and give all the connections a clean, see if that helps first. Regarding the motor for the xenon movement, if it has popped out of position, can this be put back on in place or will I need to take the headlight right out?

Thanks

Well had the headlight out and 1 of the adjustment rubbers had detached, put it back on and now the beam is in a a lot better position. Just need to try connecting with vcds again now to see if I can align them properly.

Regarding the light out warning on dash which I mentioned at the start, I just unplugged the rear level sensor from the rear and the warning light disapeard! Would this suggest the sensor is shot anyone?

Is your car running Xenon lights?

Yes

Okay. I'd recommend creating your own thread since this one is positively ancient in terms of internet forums.

I can't assist much further with Xenons so I'll leave it to the more experienced of this forums. :)
