Skoda Ownership Starts Today!

Featured Replies

Well today is the day I hopefully drive back from Manchester in my fully loaded 2013 TDI VRS Octy Estate Candy White with the Black Design pack. I will post pics later on, once I have downloaded Tapatalk. Any tips for first few days of ownership to get the best out the car would be well received. Happy Motoring!

Good stuff mate. I picked mine up yesterday and I have not stopped smiling when driving it :) I'm north west also.

Hi, any tips from new owners to a potential new owner? I'm on the lookout for an Octavia at the moment. Hope you're enjoying yours!

Yeah really looking forward to picking her up but looking forward to the drive back to Scotland even more! Got all my cds picked out and my dragonfly digital audio converter to test out the Canton stereo.

In terms of tips for potential owners do your research and have a clear idea of what you want eg diesel or petrol, dsg or manual, estate or saloon, vrs or standard and mileage is a factor to consider as well but that's a balancing act between cost and how long you plan on running it. Think that covers the basics I'm sure there is more but enjoy the hunt!

I have been on holiday in Scotland (Ballater) last week and the roads were a pleasure to drive on! I did however drive them in my BMW E90 and drove straight to the dealership yesterday to do the part exchange detail and pick up my Octavia 3.

Scotland really is a world class when it comes to roads that really give you the thrill of driving in spades! Around Ballater is fantastic and I can't recommend the Scottish North Coast 500 road trip highly enough. Enjoy your Octavia 3 LaneDiesel.

That car is a game changer 230miles on a bit over 1/4 of a tank with 370 range left that's with a few spirited over taking. Did have to park a country mile away from the house to find a space big enough but also discovered it's got start stop technology as well which I didn't know about and it still turns the occasional head which is always a nice bonus. Will miss making the exhaust fart on the rocco but that will pass. Happy chappy!

Thanks for the advice. I have most of it nailed down: estate, auto, petrol and plan to keep the car for at least 5 years. I still can't decide between a vrs and a 1.8 though...

In the real world with the DSG you really won't notice any difference between the 1.8 and the 1.4. They both have the same peak torque and the 1.8 power advantage is only at high rpm. It's only noticeable in flat-out acceleration. The only reason to take a 1.8 over a 1.4 is for the slightly better ride of the independent rear-end. The vRS is significantly more powerful, but slightly less comfortable.

Thanks, that's really useful insight. Sounds like I definitely need to take each of the, for a test drive on our shoddy Sussex B roads to see how they compare.
