Humming from fuel tank

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Anyone out there knows the reason for a humming/slight whining noise coming from the fuel tank in the region of the filter, the noise fluctuates even on tickover.---it has just started, the car has just had a service, with a fuel filter change included.

I'm a thicko as far as car mechanics go, but is there a fuel pump/motor in there or near there, that would make such a noise and if so does that mean that there is something going to go wrong. or is it that that it has just had a new filter and the fuel is flowing more freely that it just happy!

Incidentally, my car is a 2008 1.4 petrol Roomster.

Thank you!

Fuel lift pumps are fairly common for being noisy on them.

Thanks Tech1e,

But why would it just start to happen?---it never made that noise before! maybe its just happy and wants to sing about having a new filter fitted.---not to worry the car is running fine!
