Octavia 2005 - Electric seat not adjusting

Featured Replies

Hello fello Octavia drivers,

I have had my Octavia for 6 years now, she is a 2005 L&K model with 205K on the clock. I'm new here, so please excuse if i do something thats not as you would expect, i will learn .

My Octavia was involved in an accident, and when the tow truck came to take her to the garage we noticed the front drivers seat would not adjust, the seat has, a few controls including lumber and the usual up and down , forward an backward, and they all didn't work. But the seat heater works fine and the seats heat up ok.

The garage looked at it and said it was 'seat module' and wanted £400 to repair. Thats about what the whole car is worth.

I have checked the fuses, they are all fine, have searched the forums but can find very little, please would there be anyone here to help and or point me to where i could get some information would be so very grateful... The main reason i need this repaired is the MoT is due next week and the seat not adjusting as designed would be a failure.

Thank you

Intrepid

the fuses were checked by the garage and said to be fine, Have sent message to VCDS local member for help, thanks Langers2k for your help.

If anyone could help me with Part numbers, so i can see if i can source this seat module as a 2nd hand part, as another quote was £260 for new part and the local main dealer wanted £330 then there would be fitting on top.

Any ideas where to source the module from ? Would the seat module need to be coded too ?

Cheers for any help in advance

This is the 'module' as seen from the front of the drivers seat, looks strange that theres no cables attached to the connectors, should this be like this ? or are there connections around some part that isn't visible ?

any one have any ideas whats going on here ?

There are cables going to the floor as can be seen in the last image

any help most appreciated.

The first two pictures show the correct control module under the drivers seat. Does it have anything connected to the other side as both have connectors?

Its really hard to get to the back to take a look as the seat can't be moved, i took a picture from the side as best i can, and it looks like there are connections at the back from what i can gather from the image.

I'm trying to find out what the part number for this module maybe and where a second hand one could be sourced

It'll probably start 3C0 959 760. It should have a letter afterwards but that may or may not be important. It'll depend what you have currently and what it's superseeded part numbers are if any exist.

I wouldn't bother replacing it until you've had a VCDS autoscan done... It might highlight a simpler problem.

The new unit will probably also need coding to the car so in an ideal world you'd take the coding from the old unit before replacing it. Breakers or eBay are good sources for used modules :)

It might be worth just getting a cheap non electric drivers seat to get it through it MOT, as anything from golf mk5/6 or Audi a3 should bolt straight in.
