Factory fitted towbar with 13 pin electrics

Featured Replies

I believe I read somewhere that when specifying a factory fitted towbar, an adaptor lead from 13 to 7 pin electrics is provided but I am unable to find the thread.

Can anyone tell me whether this is correct?

Thank you.

Those adaptor plugs are as cheap as chips if they don't come as standard.

Hi.

I can confirm that a 13 to 7 pin adapter is provided, at least with my newly collected car (2.0 TSI Estate L&K)

didn't get one with my factory fitted one

You are right, they are cheap. The reason why I was asking was to ensure I have the equipment I am entitled to when I eventually collect the car from the dealer; the point highlighted by subsequent posts from thagen 13 and q102. Not that don't trust the competence of dealers, you understand......

Perhaps they only provide them in Norway.

I'm from the UK and didn't get one with mine, but I already had one from a previous car. Overall I'm very pleased with mine no more messing around just a simple tug in the boot and it flips back with your foot, plus integrating the 13 pin socket into the towbar itself is a very neat solution. I sometimes drop mine in a dodgy parking spaces to avoid any unwanted knocks at the rear.

Mine has a factory towbar but didn't come with the adaptor.

So i guess we are luckier here in Norway, having the adapter included for free :)

Then again my trailer does not need one as it is only a couple years old.

The adapter came with the factory fitted towbar on my Irish Mark II, so I reckon there's a pretty decent chance it comes with the install, but they either deliberately or accidentally forget to give it to you when you collect the car.

I picked my new superb up yesterday and con confirm the factory fitted towbar did not come with 13 to 7 pin adapter.

nope.. did not come with one in the uk.. but i had 3 of them which cost a few quid off amazon which all work fine

Nor did I, not that I need one. Towed for the first time last week and it was simple and easy. Great car to tow with.
